Shimla: For not adhering to proper management of bio-medical waste, anti pollution authorities have hauled up 32 hospitals, which include government institutions, and served notice on them.
The Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board issued these notices after carrying out comprehensive inspection of 62 hospitals in the state. Hospitals that were found wanting in proper segregation and disposal of the bio-medical wastes have been booked.
A three member committee, comprising of scientists, had conducted a discreet inspection of 19 government and 43 private hospitals in different districts of the state.
Eleven government and 21 private hospitals have been served notices, Vineet Kumar, member secretary of the pollution control board stated.
He added that directions had been issued to the hospitals to take remedial steps within the stipulated time period otherwise stringent action would be taken.
