Srinagar: The weather office issued an advisory today asking travellers on the Srinagar-Jammu and Srinagar-Leh highways to guard against possible landslides triggered by heavy rains.
“People intending to undertake journey on the highways must exercise caution because of possibility of landslides in Panthal and Zojilla Pass sectors,” Sonam Lotus, director of the weather office, told.
Lotus said heavy rains in Jammu and Kashmir would continue today, but the weather conditions would improve from tomorrow.
He said the present spate of rains were caused by easterly and westerly winds.
“There will be snowfall in the higher reaches of the Kashmir Valley in the next 24 hours. The present weather conditions brought down temperatures across the state because of a cumulative effect of westerly and easterly winds,” the official said.
