New Delhi, June 6 (IANS) On day one of registration to Delhi University’s four-year undergraduate programme (FYUP), over 42,000 admission forms were sold, a university official said Thursday.
“There has been a record sale this year as 42,860 forms were sold compared to last year where the figure stood approximately at 30,000,” Avinashi Kapoor, professor and joint dean, students’ welfare, south campus, Delhi University said.
The admission process at the university began Wednesday.
DU has made arrangements for both online and offline registrations with the introduction of FYUP.
“The online registration number touched 7,385, almost three times that of last year’s figure,” Kapoor said.
The newly-launched online registration provided by the university allows the students to register themselves without the otherwise mandatory payment of Rs.100 for the prospectus and the optical mark registration (OMR) forms.
To help candidates, the students’ union has been demanding the opening of more admission windows and making offline registration free for students visiting the different centres for admission.
“We have submitted a memorandum to the dean of students’ welfare demanding the opening of more admission windows and making offline registration free of cost,” said Arun Hooda, president, Delhi University Students Union (DUSU).
DU has enhanced the duration of its three-year undergraduate course to four years from this academic session, making it compulsory for students to study 11 foundation courses during the first two years.
