Bangalore, May 8 (IANS) The Congress Wednesday took early leads in Karnataka as officials counted the hundreds of thousands of votes polled to pick a new assembly.
Trends available for over 130 seats after an hour of counting that began at 8 a.m. showed the Congress leading in 55 seats.
The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was leading in 32 seats, the Janata Dal-Secular in 27 and the Karnataka Janata Party (KJP) of former BJP chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa in 10.
Independents and smaller parties were leading in the other places.
