Sydney, April 30 (IANS) A Fiji court Tuesday sentenced an Indian origin man, found guilty of murdering his wife and two daughters, to life imprisonment.
The high court in Suva, Fiji’s capital, sentenced Bimlesh Dayal, 33, who was found guilty of murdering his wife Ranjini Rekha Singh and two minor daughters, Amisha and Anisha, on the intervening night between Oct 28 and 29, 2011, to life imprisonment and ordered that he should serve at least 20 years in jail before he becomes eligible for parole, local media reported.
The incident at Nanuku Settlement in Vatuwaga region of this island nation had sent ripples through the Indian origin community here.
Dayal had claimed that his wife had an affair with their landlord’s son.
Justice Paul Madigan ruled that the sentence for each of the three counts of murder is life imprisonment with a minimum of 20 years and each term should be served concurrently.
