Addressing the State Level function on World Environment Day organized by the Department of Environment and Scientific Technology, Prof. P.K Dhumal asked the environmentalists to make children, the ambassadors to create mass awareness about the importance of environment conservation by maintaining cleanliness of earth, air and water.
Emphasizing on the environment disasters like rising temperatures, melting glaciers and shrinking water bodies which had been a result of human intervention, he said that the problems are serious enough to be took up gravely. He further marked that there is a need for introspection and social audit by every one to see whether they were using the natural resources cautiously and change their life style accordingly. He said that people needed to consider it joint as responsibility and protect the environment. Prizes were distributed for Best Eco Club as the first prize went to the Monal Eco club, GSSS, Makareri, Joginder Nagar in district Mandi; 2nd Prize to Mayur Eco Club, GSSS, Galma, Mandi, 3rd Prize to Peepal Eco Club, GSSS (Boys) Nahan in district Sirmour while Consolation Prizes were given to Monal Eco Club, GSSS, New Kanga, Popular Eco Club, GHS, Gasnoo, Mandi and Mr. Dhruv Bhasin of St. Edward School, Shimla.
