New Delhi : Car manufacturer Å koda Auto Wednesday launched its first c-segment sedan Rapid priced at Rs.6.75 lakhs (ex-showroom New Delhi).
“We intend to strengthen our presence in the highly competitive C segment in the country with this launch,” said Thomas Kuehl, board member and director, sales and marketing, Å KODA Auto India.
According to Kuehl, the company expected the car to become a key brand to drive sales.
“Our plans for the Rapid in India are fairly ambitious, given that we expect it to become the bestselling car in our model line-up in India, in the near future,” Kuehl said.
Kuehl said the car completes the company’s current portfolio. “It fills the gap between Å koda Fabia and the current Laura,” Kuehl said.
The car will be produced at the company’s Chakan plant in Pune.
“The Rapid is positioned as a family car, compact enough for the city and spacious enough for longer trips,” Kuelh said.
