Himachal gets above normal rainfall in August

Shimla : The monsoon has been vigorous over Himachal Pradesh in August with 18 per cent excess rainfall,this has made up for the deficent rainfall in July, the weather office said Friday.

The state received 321 mm rainfall in August.The monsoon began early and well in June but weakened in July due to which the state received 45 per cent deficent rainfall in July.

The meterological department says the entire monsoon rainfall up to September 1 is 627 mm against the normal 665 mm,so the overall deficency now stands at 6 per cent.
