Himachal Higher Education Foundation Donates Rs 1.17 Crore

Himachal Higher Education Foundation, New Delhi, A Public Charitable Trust set up by Delhi based Himachali origin Shri C.D. Khanna today donated Rs. 1.17 crore to Rogi Kalyan Samiti, Dr. R.P. Tanda Medical College, District Kangra for strengthening infrastructural facilities at school of nursing Tanda Medical College and providing scholarship and fee concessions to poor meritorious girls students.

The MoU was signed between Professor Anil Chauhan, Principal Tanda Medical College and Shri C.D. Khanna, Chairman, Himachal Higher Education Foundation, in Himachal Bhawan New Delhi today.

Dr. Rajiv Bindal, Health Minister, Shri P.C. Dhiman, Principal Secretary, Health, Shri B.K. Agarwal, Principal Resident Commissioner, Himachal Bhawan, Padam Shri Professor, J.L. Gupta who was also former Medical Superintendent Safdarjang Hospital besides other prominent persons were present on the occasion.

Dr. Rajiv Bindal told that the trust shall place entire amount of Rs. 1.17 crore in a fixed deposit in a Public Sector Bank which shall become the Corpus Fund for the Nursing School at Dr. RPGMC, Tanda. The interest generated from the said investment of the said Corpus Fund shall be spent on purchase of equipments and material for the Nursing School at Dr. RPGM College, Tanda.

Health Minister said that a gold medal namely ‘Dr. Bhawani Sahai Memorial Gold Medal’ would be started by the Government to the meritorious students securing top position in the academic examinations. One Gold Medal and other medals will be given to the students securing first and other positions in the final examination of the Nursing School.

Dr. Rajiv Bindal said that the implementation of the MoU shall be monitored by a committee consisting of Principal Secretary, Health, Himachal Pradesh as Chairman and Principal of Dr. RPGM College, Tanda and Dr. Kavindra Lal will be the Member of the committee. The committee shall meet twice in a year to take decision regarding the utilization of the funds.

Shri J.L. Gupta, Trustee of Himachal Higher Education Foundation, New Delhi said that foundation has also started Defence Academy at Una to train the youths for Army, Para-Military and Police Forces recruitment which is imparting education for successful entry in these forces. He told that Defence Academy will also start training course for offices-level entry to the Himachali youths in near future.
