Shimla: Five persons were killed on the spot and one seriously injured when the car (HP-03-1907) they were traveling in went off the road near Nerwa in Chopal region of Shimla district on Thursday evening, police said.
The seriously injured Kanwar Ishawar Singh (60) has been referred to IGMC Shimla for treatment.
Among those killed on the spot are Ramesh Chand Sood (48) and his wife Sushma Sood (40) who were residents of Chopal. The others dead have been identified as Madhu Sudhan Sharma, Balmukand and the driver Rajesh Punjabi, said the police spokesman.
The Alto car was going from Chopal towards Nerwa, when it lost control and fell into the valley at a place called Lalpani about 5 Km short of Nerwa at about 5 p.m.
Immediate cause of the accident could not be ascertained and the police after registering a case is investigating the matter.
