Himalayan Research Scholars Association celebrates its First Felicitation Function

himres.jpgVirbhadra Singh, Chief Minister emphasized the need for inculcation of self discipline amongst the students in order to progress and emerge as top scholars and professionals and added that such professionals could contribute in making the State, the “Knowledge State” of the country. He was addressing the First Felicitation Function organized by the Himalayan Research Scholars Association which conferred ‘Himalaya Shiromani’ Award upon him for his valuable contribution in the field of Education here today.

Chief Minister urged the University authorities to take benefit of talents available in the State by engaging them in the academics, research and other education promotional activities so that the young scholars were encouraged and inspired with their achievements. He said that the H.P. University was poised to emerged as top university of the country with high educational standards of international level.

Virbhadra Singh said that the State has emerged as a source of inspiration to the developing States besides others in the education sector. He said that endeavours of the State Government found mention in the publication of Nobel laureate, Prof. Amartya Sen, which had further inspired the State to perform better and make Himachal Pradesh, a ‘Knowledge Hub’ of the country.

Chief Minister also honoured the scholars in different disciplines.

Dr. Bhawani Singh, Chairman, Himalayan Research Scholars Association welcomed the Chief Minister and apprised him of the activities of the Association.

Ms. Meena Sharma, President of the Association proposed vote of thanks.
