Himachal for RMP Quota

Shimla: In a meeting with Chief of Army, General Deepak Kapoor, who accompanied by his wife and Lt. General B.S.Jaswal, GOC-in-C- ARTRAC and other senior army officers, Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, demanded improvement in the Recruitable Male Population (RMP) quota for the youth of the State in the armed forces.

He said that the procedure of recruitment to armed forces based on RMP was not in consonance with the calibre State youth possessed and required to be amended to permit entry of more eligible youth into different wings of the armed forces. He also raised the demand to open two more military schools in the districts of Kangra and Hamirpur on the analogy of the military school at Chail in district Solan, since majority of serving and ex-servicemen belonged to both the districts.

He also said that ‘one rank one pension’ issue had been pending disposal for quite a long time which requires to be decided once for all.

He added that the facilities being provided to the wards of serving and ex-servicemen besides giving added preference to rehabilitate them on retirement suitably as the State was implementing 15 percent reservation to them in government service.
