The King Of Hills

Dear Shimla, now hailed as the King of hill cities,
a transition so grand, it deserves witty ditties.
Once the Queen of Hills, now your natural crown,
adorns expensive cars, the grand leap of a small town.

Oh, King! Your roads once empty and serene,
now bustling bumper to bumper, a sight to be seen.

By daylight, engines announce the power of your reign,
quiet autumn nights; few remnants of the past to remain.

The calm streets, where once silence prevailed,
flooded with traffic, through which many have sailed.
In your ascent to greatness, you embraced the invader,
a rite of passage and an honorary title, the trade off!

From the Mall Road to Sanjauli, the engines roar,
a symphony of progress, too loud to ignore.
The mist between Deodars, now uniquely paired,
with clouds of smoke, no monkey or bird spared.

So here’s to you, Shimla, in your new regal role,
where traffic is a mad prince, out of control.
We applaud your growth, each bustling street,
testament to the fallacy, that past and present meet.

Farewell, Queen of Hills, your reign was divine,
welcome, King of Hill Cities, in this new paradigm.
Where every traffic snarl, every horn that is blown,
is a quirky jewel, added to the big city throne.
