Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) hotels would endeavour to give boost to its business promotional activities to attract participants and foreigners to visit Himachal Pradesh proposed Commonwealth Games scheduled to be held in New Delhi during the year 2010 by offering them an attractive package. This was revealed by Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister, in the 121st Board of Directors Meeting of the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation held here under his Chairmanship last evening.
He said that the ensuing Common Wealth Games would be one additional opportunity for the Corporation to gain additional business by offering special package to the players and sports lovers visiting New Delhi and attract them to visit Himachal Pradesh as also gain word of mouth publicity beyond national boundaries.
He said that hospitality was one of the fastest growing industry in the world and HPTDC needs to keep pace with the global trends by updating its professional capabilities and catering to the requirements of the customers.
He said that since the online booking of hotels was available and the Corporation needs to take benefit of the same to offer packages to the prospective tourists to visit Himachal Pradesh.
He said that the packages could also be offered for promotion of health tourism by incorporating ‘Panch Karma’ system and could be beneficial in attracting more health loving tourists to the pollution free environment of the State.
He said that State had varied local cuisines which needed to be prepared in the traditional style and offered to the visitors to acquaint them to the local dietary habits of the people and could generate income to the Corporation. He said that additionally different types of international cuisines also needed to be introduced to customers to make them permanent customers of the HPTDC.
Mrs. Asha Swaroop, Chief Secretary, advised that regular exchange of the food and beverage staff of HPTDC needed to be carried with best addresses in the hospitality industry so that the professional skills of the staff was upgraded to match the prevailing trend in the industry.
