Himachal To Dispose Plastic Waste In Ambuja Cement Kilns

Shimla:  The Rural Development Department of Himachal Pradesh signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thrusday (5th Dec, 2024) with Ambuja Cements Ltd. to tackle non-recyclable plastic waste in the state.

The agreement envisages that Ambuja Cements will collaborate with the department to process plastic waste in its cement kilns so as to process and dispose it in an eco-friendly manner and help to contain plastic pollution in the state.

The initiative will cover the districts of Chamba, Kangra, Shimla, and Solan, where 29 Plastic Waste Management Units have been established. Non-recyclable plastic waste from these units will be sent to Ambuja’s plant for processing, reducing environmental pollution and minimizing landfill use.

Both the Rural Development Department and Ambuja Cements expressed their commitment to sustainable waste management, aiming to create a cleaner, greener Himachal Pradesh.
