The second day of the winter session in the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha witnessed a walkout by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members over the closure of stone crushers during and after the rainy season by the Congress government. Dissatisfied with the government’s response to the issue, BJP members raised anti-government slogans inside the assembly before staging the walkout.
The problem was brought up during the discussion of question number 1058, raised by Vipin Parmar and Hoshiar Singh, concerning stone crushers. Former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and current Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh also addressed the matter.
Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh mentioned that 112 crushers around the Beas basin were closed after the monsoon, and 90 of them have already been allowed to restart. He assured that the remaining crushers would also be permitted to resume operations once the owners submit the required clearance papers.
