SJVN To Set Up 90 MW Floating Solar Power Project In Madhya Pradesh

Shimla: Through a tariff based competitive bidding process, public sector power company SJVN bagged a 90 MW green energy project to be set up at the Omkareshwar Floating Solar Park in Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh.

Giving details about the project Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director, SJVN informed that the project to be set up on a Build, Own and Operate (BOO) basis was secured the competitive bidding at a winning tariff price of Rs 3.26 per unit basis. REWA Ultra Mega Solar Limited (RUMSL) had invited bids for letting out the project.

Sharma said that the cost of developing this project is estimated at Rs 585 Crores. On commissioning, the project would generate 219 Million Unit of green power in first year & 5158 Million Unit over a lifespan period of 25 years. The Power Purchase Agreement will be signed between RUMSL & SJVN for 25 years. The project is expected to be commissioned within a period of 15 months from the date of signing of PPA.

“This is our largest Floating Solar Project, said Sharma adding, commissioning of this Project is expected to reduce 2,52,737 Tonnes of carbon emission.”

Two days ago, SJVN awarded a Rs 5500 crore, 1000 MW Solar Power Project in Rajasthan to Tata Solar Power on an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract basis.

With a total portfolio of 31000MW, SJVN now has 19 Solar Power Projects of around 3.3GW capacity under operation & different stages of development.
