Mandi: The state government having relaxed the lockdown on Monday, one the very first day, a patient in Jogindernagar sub-division has tested Corona positive.
This is the first Covid-19 patient in the large district who has tested positive since the outbreak of the global pandemic.
The person who has tested positive had arrived from Delhi on 29th April and was home quarantine. The district administration has immediately sounded a health alert by changing the districts healthy safety from green to a red zone and all lockdown relaxations stand removed by turning the region into a containment zone.
Chief Medical Officer Mandi Dr. Jeevanand Chauhan said that the 30 year old person arrived from Delhi on 29th April and was put on home quarantine at his native village under Gram Panchayat Drubal of Joginder nagar sub division. After arrival, he fell ill and was found to have fever. The health department took sample for Covid 19 testing and today his sample was found to be positive.
Dr Chauhan said all necessary steps were immediately taken. The health department has set out to trace all persons who have come in contact with the infected patient. The entire area within 3 km of radius has been turned into a containment zone and all traced contact samples will be sent for lab testing, said the district health authority.
District Magistrate Rugved Milind Thakur confirmed that a Covid positive case has turned up in Jogindernagar sub-division. “Section 144 with no relaxation is being enforced with immediate effect,” said Thakur, “no movement in cantonment zone and buffer zone will be allowed.”
The magistrate informed that the patient was under strict home quarantine but all necessary steps would be taken. “The administration will find out his contacts and also seek details from the Delhi government, where this Covid-19 positive person was working before arrival,” he said..
