Dehra Dun : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate “Destination Uttarakhand : Investors’ Summit 2018” to be held tentatively on Oct 4 and Oct 5 at the Maharana Pratap Sports Stadium here. However, the main programme of the Summit could be advanced, should the President of Russia come to India on Oct 4, as is now envisaged.
Launching the brand logo and website www.destinationuttarakhand.in at a brief function at his official residence, chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said that the Summit would provide a platform for investment in Uttarakhand to the national and international community. “It will provide a platform to investors, producers, manufacturers, policy makers and industrial organizations to interact”, he added.
He said that to attract investors 12 main areas had been selected for investment which are food processing, horticulture, herbal and aromatic cultivation, tourism, wellness and Ayush, pharmaceuticals, automobiles, sericulture and natural fibre, IT, renewable energy, biotechnology and film shooting. Many mini conclaves and road shows would be organized to attract investors before the Summit, he claimed.
Rawat said that his government was constantly working to make an investment-friendly environment and Uttarakhand had emerged as the number one place among hill states in Ease of Doing Business. In other areas also is had a good ranking and a single system had effectively implemented, skilled labour was also available and the availability of electricity had also increased.
He said that investment in the state would provide employment to the local youth in large number besides providing an opportunity to state-level entrepreneurs. However, he hastened to add that there was need for a tie-up between the investors coming from outside and local entrepreneurs, which would benefit both.
