Dharamsala to host two IPL matches in 2014 season

Controversy over control of Dharamshala cricket stadium or even holding of crucial Lok Sabha elections notwithstanding, the IPL season this year has allotted two matches for what is one of the most scenic stadiums in the world.

Speaking about the upcoming IPL season, Sanjay Sharma, spokesman for Himachal Pradesh Cricket Associations said today, “BCCI and ICC officials would soon be meeting top home ministry officials in Delhi to finalize dates of holding the IPL-7 cricket season.”

He added that IPL had already announced its time table for IPL 2014, and according to According to the schedule announced Kings XI will play against Royal Challengers Bangalore on 16th May and against Mumbai Indians on 18th May at Dharamshala stadium.

President of HPCA Anurag Thakur, who was present said that 4 cricketers from Himachal were picked up by different IPL teams for the upcoming season.

This has been made possible because of the investments made by HPCA in creating world class facilities for it budding players, he added.

Thakur  said that it was a matter of pride that Rishi Dhawan (highest wicket taker in the Ranji Trophy this year ), who played for Mumbai Indians last year was picked up for 3 crores by Kings XI Punjab.

Another Himachali, Karan Verma has also picked up by Kings XI Punjab,  whereas pace bowler VJS Malik was taken by Rajesthan Royal and Indian Under 19 player Anksh Bains is also to play for Rajesthan Royal.
