Panaji, June 9 (IANS) The BJP-led NDA is the only credible alternative to a defunct Congress-led UPA and it is its duty to dethrone the ruling combine known for corruption, degradation of the economy and an assault on the federal spirit, said the political resolution passed by the BJP’s national executive Sunday.
“This is the articulation of our commitment to throw this most corrupt government lock, stock and barrel,” said the resolution, noting that the non-performing UPA had driven all sections of the society to despair.
“Bribery, kickbacks, gross financial impropriety and endless scams have become so common that it is difficult to keep count. There is no guarantee that another major scam might not explode soon,” said the resolution.
The resolution also targeted Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, saying he was not the real leader of the government and that true power vests with UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
Noting that the UPA government has done nothing to bring back black money – estimated at Rs.25 lakh crore – stashed away in foreign banks, the resolution said that the UPA has deliberately and consistently weakened and disregarded democratic institutions.
Noting that the NDA government under former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee set India on the path to high growth and poverty alleviation, the resolution said the UPA has driven India into economic despondency.
“Growth has slipped from 8.3 percent in 2004, when NDA demitted office, to a miserable five percent today,” it said.
“Gross economic mismanagement and miserable governance by an economist prime minister has punctured and paralysed India’s growth story,” it said.
