Agra, May 14 (IANS) Reverse osmosis (RO) plants in Agra should install water harvesting systems within three days or face closure, a top district official said Tuesday.
Agra District Magistrate Zuher Bin Sagir asked the plant operators to comply with all the norms and also get clearance from appropriate departments to run the plants.
Sagir said if the RO plants installed water harvesting systems most of the water now being wasted will be recycled and underground reserves recharged.
Industry sources in Agra said there were close to 500 RO plants operating in the city.
