Shanghai, May 10 (IANS) Italian female cyclist Giorgia Bronzini won the second stage of the Tour of Chongming Island with a time of 2 hours, 44 minutes and 26 seconds.
The 30-year-old Wiggle-Honda rider outsprinted Australian Chloe Hosking of team Hitec Products UCK and Australian Annette Edmondson from Orica-AIS here Thursday, reports Xinhua.
Hosking,22, accepted her defeat but she kept the green jersey, for leader, thanks to her great performance over two intermediate sprints earning her the lead in the points classification. In addition to her green-jersey victory, Hosking won the yellow jersey with an overall time of 4 hours, 31 minutes and 25 seconds, four seconds.
Heavy rain did not blow down the passion and confidence of the riders. Hosking said the rain made the ride a little bit harder but she saw it as a challenge and she really enjoyed it.
Local girl Huang Dongyan 44th, the best place for team Giant in the 113.7-kilometer course.
