Temperatures rise in Himachal, rain expected Monday

Shimla, April 28 (IANS) The hills of Himachal Pradesh experienced slightly warm weather Sunday and the state’s Una town recorded a high of 35 degrees Celsius, an official said. But the Met office here forecast rains and thundershowers soon.

“The maximum temperature across the state increased by two to three degrees and the minimum rose by one to two degrees in last 24 hours, mainly due to lack of rains,” an official from the weather office told IANS.

He said Shimla’s maximum temperature was 22.4 degrees Celsius.

Sundernagar in Mandi district recorded a high of 31.6 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature in Manali in Kullu district was 22 degrees, Dharamsala in Kangra district was 26.4 degrees Celsius and Kalpa in Kinnaur district was 19.4 degrees Celsius.

Popular tourist resorts like Narkanda, Kufri, Kasauli, Manali, Palampur, Chamba and Dalhousie also experienced warm weather.

The meteorological department, however, said a fresh western disturbance – a weather system originating in the Mediterranean region – is likely to be active in the region from Monday with a possibility of rain in low and mid hills and snow in higher reaches of the state.
