Jakarta, April 6 (IANS) An earthquake measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale rocked Indonesia Saturday, authorities said here.
The quake struck at 11.42 a.m. with epicenter at 56 km northeast of Tolikara in Papua province and with the depth at 173 km, an official of the the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency told Xinhua by phone.
Indonesia sits on a vulnerable quake zone, called “the Pacific Ring of Fire”.
