Chandigarh: First information reports (FIRs) against power thefts in Haryana will now be registered online, an officer of the state’s power utilities said here Tuesday.
“For prompt registration of FIRs against cases of theft of electricity, the vigilance directorate of the Haryana Power Utilities has started an online system for submitting complaints under the Criminal Investigation Management System (CIMS),” said Devender Singh, chairman and managing director of Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam.
Singh said officials have been directed to lodge FIRs against power theft through the online system within 24 hours of detection of the theft.
