Yangon, April 17 (IANS) The first batch of 11 Myanmar athletes Wednesday left here to undergo a three-month training in China in preparations for the 27th Southeast Asian Games to be hosted in Myanmar this year.
Under the Sports Technical Cooperation Project between China and Myanmar, 10 batches of 176 Myanmar athletes, officials and team leaders will undergo joint training in China from April to October. Wuhan, Changsha and Kunming are selected as training bases which will provide well-experienced coaches and fine equipment for Myanmar athletes, reports Xinhua.
U. Khin Maung Lwin, who is the joint secretary general of Myanmar Olympic Committee, said he believed that the move will help promote the qualities of Myanmar athletes.
The Games will be held in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Mandalay and Ngwesaung beach Dec 11-22.
