Brij Behari Lal Butail, speaker Himachal Vidhan Sabha raised the issue of rehabilitating and resettlement of Pong Dam uprooted families with Ashok Gehlot, the Rajasthan chief minister, yesterday evening.
Urging the chief minister to provide all possible help to the dam displaced families and initiate measures regarding their rehabilitation, Butail said that the Himachal Pradesh government was serious to giving the project affected families their due right.
A communique from the Speaker stated that Gehlot assured that the Rajasthan Government would provide appropriate assistance and would provide adequate land to Pong Dam affected according to the list of displaced persons as received from Himachal Pradesh Government.
At what has been termed as a courtesy call, Butail honoured the Chief Minister with traditional Himachali cap and shawl and Gehlot gifted a ‘Coffee Table Book’ based on the art, cultural and traditions of Rajasthan to the Speaker.
