Thiruvananthapuram(IANS) The number of unemployed professionals in Kerala continued to rise reaching 1.69 lakh by September 2012, up from 1.63 lakh for the year ended 2011, said official data released here Thursday.
The economic review of the state for 2012 was released by Finance Minister K.M. Mani.
The number of unemployed medical graduates went up from 2,439 to 2,912, engineers from 10,953 to 14,477, agricultural graduates from 491 to 529, veterinary graduates from 517 to 719, diploma holders in engineering from 37,748 to 38,841 and Industrial Training Institute certificate holders from 111,751 to 112,493 during the period, it said.
The employment in the organised sector decreased from 11.11 lakh in 2011 to 10.89 lakh in 2012 and that in various public sector units went down from 6.13 lakh to 5.76 lakh, the review said.
