Shimla: Himachal tourism woos lady tourists with discounts to tide over the winter lull in number of footfalls at the many properties at popular destinations that the state enterprise has.
Subhasish Panda, the new managing director of HP Tourism Development Corp (HPTDC) said the a package of offering 10 percent special additional discount to lady tourists, with minor children, has been extended at Himachal Tourism hotel units which is over and above the winter discount already offered.
He said that this special package was being offered in solidarity with the women who had been victims of atrocities and in recognition of the special place a woman occupies in the society as a mother, sister and daughter.
The special package is labeled Shardanjali Package. This package is above and over the 30 percent winter discount being offered at Himachal Tourism properties barring two properties at Shimla and at Hamirpur.
The special discount for women tourists comes into effect from 5th January, 2013 and would remain up to 31st March, 2013, said Panda.
With the festive yearender party over, the number of tourist arrivals at most hill resorts have started falling from the peak levels that were attained on New Year’s eve.
