Dehradun : Baba Ramdev, who has time and again claimed that foreign multi-nationals would kill him because of his tirade against their products, has now alleged that the Congress led UPA government at the centre and the Congress government in Uttarakhand, could get his close associate, Acharya Balkrishan killed in jail.
It may be recalled that Balkrishan is lodged in the Suddhowala jail here for allegedly having procured a passport with fake documents.
His application for bail had been rejected by the sessions court and he has been remanded in judicial custody till Aug 13.
In a statement that could have far reaching ramifications, Ramdev alleged that his close associate in the Patanjali Peeth, Balkrishan could be administered slow poison.
“He can also be killed on the instructions of the central or state governments by the hardened criminals with whom Balkrishan is being kept in the jail”, said Ramdev.
He added that going to jail does not tarnish the character or image of an individual, as many freedom fighters of the country were lodged in the jail during the freedom struggle and many revolutionary incidents were planned within the jail premises.
“But Balkrishan is being lodged in jail on false allegations to tarnish his image”, he claimed.
The yoga guru went on to add that there are three undertrials on murder charges, who are confined in close quarters with Balkrishan, besides 50 hardened criminals who have been kept in the immediate vicinity.
“Any one of them can, if they so desire, strangulate Balkrishan on the instructions of the government”, he maintained.
Asked why would the state or for that matter the Congress-led government at the centre would want to take such drastic steps against Balkrishan, he said that it was because of his proposed rally against corruption in Delhi on August 9.
Ramdev categorically asserted that Balkrishan is not a citizen of Nepal, as had been clarified in a written statement by the government of Nepal, and as such he is citizen of India. Under such circumstances, how could his passport be fake or forged, he pointed out.
Claiming that Balkrishan had done yeoman work in the field of ayurveda and treatment of various diseases by using herbal remedies, he said that had the acharya been in another country, they would have recommended him for a Nobel Prize.
“But in any case, the government will one day realize their mistake for detaining him in jail and apologise for it”, he added.
