Himachal to contest HC order on Himalayan Ski Village after legal opinion

Shimla: Under fire for strictures passed by the Himachal Pradesh High Court in the Himachal Ski Village case, the government has decided to contest the case after taking a legal opinion.

Talking to reporters’ chief secretary Sudripta Roy said that the government after taking a legal opinion on the judicial order would take appropriate action.

Not ruling out challenging the judgment that has put the government in the dock, Roy said that a public hearing conducted to record the resident population’s views about the Ski Village project had opposed it totally.

The government will have to take into account both the judicial order and the views of the people on such a project, he said.

Denying that the policy of the government changed after 2008, when the Prem Kumar Dhumal led BJP government took over, he said that government is a process in continuity and no contract under law had been violated.

“At no time had the government cancelled the Himalayan Ski Village project but only a notice for cancellation had been served because according to the terms of reference an Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) had not been got done by the promoter,” said Roy.

Augh that infernal ski village. They’ve already bribed the oracles of Sandhya Devi and Tripura Sundari for permission. Even the Gur of Hadimba submitted to pressure. It was only Jamlu who stood firm, and the same year, the temple in Malana caught fire. I find the whole project highly distasteful. It is truly Kaliyug when even the Gods cannot stop commercial ugliness from spreading.

Over the last few years, I have also observed that oracles/gurs often give-in to pressure & temptations. I wonder why an astral being would choose such a person to be its priest or material-caretaker in the first place! Formar Gur of Kamrunag (the famed rain god of Mandi), for example, was extremely greedy in all ways imaginable.

Anyways, lets not forget (if we are to go by scriptures or mythological-symbolic stories) that men and women have gone far ahead than deities and astral beings in fighting the Evil. Its each one of us who has to take up the responsibility of combating the commercial ugliness from spreading in our surroundings.
