Temple animal sacrifice practice declining in Uttarakhand

Dehradun : The practice of animal slaughter which is in vogue in quite a few temples of Uttarakhand is slowly but surely being given a go-by as animal lovers and the concerned authorities are trying to convince the masses that slaughtering animals does not appease the deity and it can be well done without.

After a few temples in the higher reaches of the state where the practice of slaughtering male buffaloes and goats was in vogue on certain auspicious days of the year quit the practice due to efforts by various sections, the latest to do so are the people of Anarwala village in the outskirts of the state capital.

On Saturday, goats had to be sacrificed at the Bhadrakali temple at the village, but the district authorities and members of the society for prevention of cruelty to animals intervened.

A large police force was also put up and though devotees did come to the temple with goats, they were persuaded not to slaughter them. It took some convincing but the devotees finally agreed.

In fact may of them left the animals at the temple as an offering to the deity, leaving it to the members of the temple management committee as to what to do with them. Yet others took the animals back with them.

A positive outcome of the exercise was the motivation of the youth of Anarwala village and those in its immediate vicinity to put in their efforts to stop the practice of animal slaughter in the temples of the state.

The youth of the area decided to form teams and go to the various temples where animals are slaughtered to convince the villagers of the region to give up the practice.

Wonder why the so called animal lovers should focus on animal sacrifice in temples only. They look the other way round in the meat markets where hundred thousand of such poor animals are being killed daily. One is cruelty but the other is not. Isn’t it strange?

Hindus can be made to understand but the muzzis have no contribution towards peace, sane thinking & innovation whatsoever. Thanks to some good youths the Heaven in Earth state Dev Bhoomi Uttaranchal is seeing a nice change. Ban animal killing forever & try to convince people to turn to vegetarian.

    1. Animals and plants both are alive. So we should stop eating both. We should die.
    2. These associations filled with fools of the society have decreased the demand of goats in the market. That directly effected the poor goat farmers who can’t even afford a cattle for milk.
    3. Meat eaters help in decreasing cost of vegetarian diet in society as demand decreases of veg as they eat non veg that help everyone to get desired food in cheapest cost.
    4. Animals convert unvaluable and non eatable food items like grasses and brans in to valuable proteins.
