Shimla: Miffed over the condition of roads in the state, the Himachal Pradesh High Court Tuesday directed the state government to submit a progress report by May 31 on various ongoing road projects.
Hearing a petition regarding the slow progress of road and bridge projects, a division bench of Chief Justice Kurian Joseph and Justice D.C. Chaudhary directed the government to submit a progress report on the ongoing construction of various crucial roads, including Theog-Kotkhai-Hatkoti-Rohru road in Shimla district.
The petitioner, Devinder Chauhan, alleged that the construction of Theog-Kotkhai-Hatkoti-Rohru road, funded by the World Bank, was lagging.
The project is being undertaken by Chinese firm Longjian Road and Bridge Limited. The completion of the road is crucial for the smooth transportation of apples from fields to the market.
However, the company assured the high court that the 31 km stretch of the road would be completed by end of this month.
The court also sought a report on efforts made by the state for seeking central funds for improving road conditions.

Kudos to Hon.High Court decision..But, why do we just talk
of roads when apple season comes???It’s one
of the basic need of good Infrastructure of any “shining state” as claimed by current BJP government..
In Kullu Manali,the road conditions are so bad that tourists are greatly disappointed over their choice of choosing Himachal as their holiday destination..and government is just busy in taking so called “Awards” for excellency in tourism..
Sometimes one wonders,if these awardshave any relevance when the ground realities are so different!!!

Hon’able HIGH COURT decision bilkul shi hai. Ek or jahan vikas jaroori hai wahi sahi Samjhdari bhi . Y-Point Paonta Sahib pe NH 72 ke dwara jo Chowk banaya ja raha hai wo ek tarah se fund ki barbadi bhar hai. Aisi Zig zag Drawing koi achchha or samjhdar ENGINEER to kabhi banayega hi nahi. Is design ke karan Khule space ko be wajah waste bana diya hai saath hi gult drawing se 11 trees ka NUKSAAN ho raha hai wo alag. Sahi design bana ke 5-7 trees ko bachaya ja sakta hai jo abhi tak Mumkin hai. Trees bachne ke baad bhi khuli space or footpath dono niklate hai. Kripa is vishay pe Jaanch ki jaye to Uchit prinaam milega. Thanks.
Devinder Chauhan is doing a very good job. It is rightly said that tourist coming to Shimla gets disappointed after reaching Shimla. Traffic congestion is the major problem, which can be taken care of, if proper arrangement of bye passing the medium to heavy goods vehicle is made. The bus stands can be constructed outside of main city interconnected by local/ mudrika buses. The major roads should be interconnected by link roads. Lot needs to be done to save Shimla Tourist Destination… We must work with sincerity to save OUR Shimla.
