Kabul : At least 19 people, including five children, were killed in Afghanistan Wednesday after a roadside bomb struck a mini-bus in Helmand province, over 550 km south of capital Kabul, said an official.
The blast also left five people injured.
“A mine planted by Taliban militants struck a mini-bus outside provincial capital Lashkar Gah at around 11.00 a.m. today, killing 19 commuters, including five children, and wounding five others, all civilians,” Xinhua quoted Daud Ahmadi, spokesman for provincial administration as saying.
The mini-bus, headed from Lashkar Gah city to Sangin district when it ran over the explosive device and caused the casualties, he said.
