Baddi University of Emerging Sciences to Host Job Fair on 3rd Sept

Shimla: With big brands like Nestle, Dabur, Henkel, Northstar, Cadbury, Havel India and others scouting for talent, a job fair at Baddi University of Emerging Science & Technology (BUEST) will bring together employers and job seekers together on September 3 at their campus.

Speaking about the upcoming job-fest AK Saihjpal, vice-chancellor BUEST said that there were 2230 vacancies for which the employers would be interviewing job seekers.

“Over 23 companies are participating job fair which is meant to provide unskilled, technical and professional manpower to employers within and outside Himachal Pradesh,” he said.

The employment fair is being organized by the university in collaboration with Himachal’s department of labour and employment.
Labour commissioner Mohan Chauhan said that youths with qualifications of 8th Pass, 10th Pass, 10+2 Pass, BCom, BSc, ITI trained in the trades of fitter, turner, welder, electrician, tool & dye and machinist, polytechnic diploma in electrical or mechanical and B Pharma can all come for interviews at the job fair.

A bonafide Himachali certificate, detailed mark sheet and employment registration certificates along with passport pictures would be needed for being interviewed, he added.

The department has contacted about 600 employers through Baddi Barotiwala Nalagarh Industries Association and Confederation of Indian Industry (Himahal Chapter) for furnishing their manpower requirements, said Chauhan.

BUEST started out as an engineering college in 2002 and was granted university status in 2009.

With a teaching faculty of 1959 159 teachers, the institute has an strength of 2600 students of which 93.7% are from Himachal, it has even started conducting Phd research programs in Engineering, Pharmacy and Management, the vice-chancellor said.

    Just a small question here. The university has 1959 teachers and 2600 students. This means a student to professor ratio of 1.32. This is very low even in comparison to the best american univesities. This ratio is generally in the range of 8-15 in the best universities.
