After being closed for over half a year the Rohtang pass gateway to the tribal Lahaul valley has been thrown open for vehicular traffic, around a month late this year due to heavy snowfall in the winter.
Equipped with sophisticated equipment the Border Roads Organisation(BROs) has been working for nearly three months to clear the Manali-Rohtang pass road and on Friday cleared the pass of mountains of snow.
Situated at 13,050 ft above sea level, the Rohtang pass is an important tourist spot in the Kullu valley attracting thousands of visitors every day.
The pass further leads to landllocked Ladakh through Lahaul.
