Palampur joins campaign against corruption

Strengthened by the presence of Dr. Kshama Maitre and Kulbhushan Upmanyu, the residents of Palampur came together in solidarity with the ongoing nation-wide campaign against corruption. Members of many voluntary organisations, NGOs, religious organisations and conscientious individuals gathered for a day long sit-in at the SDM’s office. They later carried out a procession through the Palampur market shouting slogans like ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’, ‘Jan Lokpal Bill Parit Karo’ and ‘Anna Hazare age badho, hum tumhare saath hain.’ While addressing the gathering at the SDM’s office, Padma Shree awardee Dr. Kshama Maitre told people about the frugal and selfless lifestyle of Anna Hazare and pledged full support to the movement that he had started regarding the Jan Lokpal Bill. She also pointed out that the Indian society draws inspiration from the teachings of the rishis and mahatmas who preached against greed but due to cultural erosion, corruption had become rampant in the society. If we need the corruption to be rooted out, the society needs a cultural evolution besides legal reforms, she said.

Speaking on the occasion, Kulbhushan Upmanyu of Himalay Bachao Samiti said that the character of democracy has to be reformed from the current representative centric model to one that is accountable to the people who elect the representatives. Also the delivery of development at the grassroots had left many things to be desired for. In both the cases, corruption is the biggest impediment in the way of reforms and Jan Lokpal Bill shall go a long way to address this issue, he said. Sh. Kulbhushan Ralhan of the Palampur Welfare and Environment Protection Organisation said that the gathering in support of Anna Hazare’s campaign was just a beginning and in order to root corruption out of the society, righteous people shall have to keep struggling for the proper implementation of the Lokpal Bill after its enactment.

The prominent organisations that had joined the solidarity initiative at Palampur included Sai Seva Samiti, Art of Living, People’s Campaign for socio-economic equity, Palampur Welfare and Environment Protection Organisation, Rotary Club, Chinmay Organisations for Rural Development, NEHA, Maa Saraswati Society, Lok Vigyan Kendra, Gramin Seva Ashram and Bharat Vikas Parishad.

I wonder where were all of these hiding? Looks like a mob psychology effect..eradicating corruption from roots will bring a civil war..the whole of system is drenched in loot philosophy..

Corrupt leaders from all political parties and corrupt bureaucracy in INDIA has deliberately created a system of organised loot, everyone knows how much pure our leaders are …may be from BJP or Congress or any other party..all are thugs with different logos and brands !

Anna Hazare will continue to shine in media..not for the change but for creating stirs and ripples..People have forgotten CWG scandals, 2g Telecom ..Hasan Ali..same way Anna Hazare too will be lost like a writing on Sand..
