Himachal hikes electricity tariffs

Shimla: Power tariff for both domestic and commercial consumers would be increased in Himachal Pradesh, it was announced Thursday. The revised rates will come into effect Friday.

However, families belonging to below poverty line (BPL) category and small and medium industries would be exempted.

“The Himachal Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission Thursday announced 30 paise per unit increase in the cost of power tariff for domestic consumers in the state. However, the tariff for BPL family has not been increased,” an official statement said here.

“The tariff for large industry has been hiked by 55 paise per unit,” said the statement.

    when this govt. came in power they increased the unit by 20 paisa ,,,,after sometime they said that we are going to make electricity cheap so the peoples of Himachal pradesh will think oh govt. is taking good step….now after hibernation they came out and said we will increase by 30 paisa…….means around 40 % hike in bill……Very nice card played …..thanks to GOVT.

    Himachal is a largest electricity producing state, but govt playing role against the law of demand “excess production increase price”, as govt knows that public has to pay as no alternative available. I think the peoples of India becoming helplessness against govt policies and govt is crossing their democratic boundries.
