Shimla: After registering an a gross turnover of Rs 908.86 crore, which is an increase of Rs 259.34 crores over the previous year, HP State Civil Supplies Corporation earned a net profit of Rs 1.28 crore in 2008 fiscal, a board meeting presided over by Ramesh Dhawala, food minister was informed on Tuesday.
The board approved the approved accounts for the year 2007-08. Dhawala let the board know that the corporation had contributed Rs 21 lakh towards the chief minister relief fund.
During the running financial year, the corporation has opened one wholesale godown, 3 LPG outlets and medicine shop.
By end of November, 2008, the corporation had achieved a sale turnover of Rs 524.82 crore, which was an increase of Rs 57.65 crore over last fiscal.
The government corporation is the apex body through which the public distribution scheme is carried out. The civil supply corporation also holds licenses for retail petrol pump outlets, LPG supply outlets and operates many retail drugs stores within government hospitals premises.
