DPS celebrates 51st founders’ day

KUMARHATTI: Dr. Rajiv Bindal, Health Minster has called upon the requirement to impart quality education blended with moral fiber and spirituality. The quality and spiritual education was an equipment to guide the younger generation in right direction, he remarked. The education that lacked spirituality could lead to disaster, asserted Dr. Bindal while pointing towards the recent bomb blasts cases masterminded by the experts using the education and technique in wrong way. He was addressing teachers, guardians and students of Dagshai Public School (DPS) on its 51st founders’ day function at Dagshai, 4 km from here today.

He further said that the education should make one capable to contribute in country. He also stressed upon the need to follow the doctrine of universal brotherhood. He said the children should fulfill the expectation of parents who wish to see them as good human beings. At the same the time he called upon the parents to give well deserved time to their wards from their busy life. To instill the moral and spiritual values in children there was a need to create healthy environment in educational institutions, he pointed out.

Dr Bindal assured the school management to solve the water scarcity problem in school by looking for the feasibility to carry Giri scheme water to school. He also assured to help the school in getting the permission to bore a pump for water purpose.

Talking on the state government achievements in short span of time the Health Minster said that in Himachal the various development and welfare projects have launched with public -private participation. The state government with the support of private sector has started many projects that would help the people. He called upon the corporates particular in health sector to come forward to open multi-specialty colleges and hospitals. He said for this endeavour the entrepreneurs would get full support from state government. Where the hospital and colleges were being opened the state government has also facilitated the private experts’ services in government hospitals and health centers, eh maintained.

For private medical experts the state government has fixed good fees so that rural area could get healthy medical services, he asserted.

To improve the education in state the three universities have been sanctioned while approvals for more were in pipeline, he said. The efforts were on to make the state herbal state by setting up those project that attracted carbon credits. The tourism sector has also got boost in state. The Asian Development Bank was contemplating to invest Rs. 650-cr in state tourism sector, he informed.

The residential schools in state were also helpful in promoting the tourism in state. Besides enhancing national integration the residential schools were also helped to boost local economy, he pointed out. He praised the DPS faculty for its relentless efforts to produce good academic results.

Meanwhile with the arrival of the chief guest the school choir started the program with the school ‘shabad‘. The various sections of art, and craft, sciences, social sciences physical education and computer science were appreciated by one and all. The students also presented a colorful cultural programme on the occasion.

The stage show began with tiny-tots colorful western dance which transported the people to the land of bull fighting and tango. The senior students presented an hilarious act play. The vacuum between the items was filed with rap dance, rock music by school senior students and solo dance by a junior student. The function reached to its peak during spell bound performance of Bhangra by school boys.

The Director Principal of the school, Dr. Harjinder Singh Majhail, welcomed the chief guest. He highlighted the role and achievements of the school. Ms Sudesh G.B. Singh, a former Miss Shimla and wife of late highly decorated army officer; Major-Gen Gurbax Singh was a special guest in function.

Mr. Jasbeer Singh Bir, Vice Chairman, DPS said that the school has restricted its student’s admission to only 250. The idea was to keep healthy student and teacher ratio, he maintained. The DPS main focus was to give extra care to each student. Every student was like jewel to us. He further said that it was reputation of school due to which good number of foreign students was getting enrolled here.

Later Dr. Bindal gave away the prizes to the students who excelled in academics and other co-curricular activities. Dr. Rajiv Saizal the local BJP sitting MLA and old student of DPS was also presented during occasion.
