Himachal to upgrade its nine ITI’s

Shri Narender Bragta, the Horticulture and Technical Education Minister announced that Himachal government was taking effective steps to improve quality of education in the state while the Central Government has released 22.5 crores under Public Private Participation (PPP) with an order to upgrade the nine ITIs in the State.

A budget of 2.5 crores is allotted for each ITI, he said. He added that oriented, vocational courses and new trades would soon be introduced while the process of finding land for setting up of IIT in Mandi is shaping up, whose proposal would be sent to Central Government.

147 new posts have been created in technical education department, with 77 Industrial Training Institutes and 49 Industrial Training Centres functioning in the State. The minister pointed out that a provision of 220 lacs had been made in order to purchase the lastest equipment.

8 ITIs of the State would be upgraded to the status of Centres of Excellence under Vocational Training Improvement Project of World Bank and Rs. 3.5 crore would be provided to each ITI under the project. The process of strenghthening these instititutes is on the tracks meanwhile 7.24 crores are being provided to three polytechnics in the state for improvement in standards.

    Finally, someone thought about it…we need all of IT in himachal, starting from ITI to IIT
