Committee For Suggesting Reforms In Himachal PSU’s Constituted

Shimla: In a bid to revamp the working of public sector undertakings, the Himachal cabinet today constituted a committee for studying their workings and to suggest reforms that can be carried out.

The committee would be headed by the chief secretary and would include principal secretary industries, secretary finance, secretary personnel and secretary law as its members.

Presided over by chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal the cabinet approved preferential allotment of plots and sheds at concessional rates to the physically challenged entrepreneurs with a view to develop entrepreneurship amongst them to explore self employment avenues in different enterprises.

The cabinet approved the formation of Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited constituted to undertake the execution of state hydro projects.

The cabinet also decided to implement health insurance scheme for handloom weavers that would provide a health cover to over 20,000 weavers families all over the state.

Norms for elementary teacher education programme in the state were finalized with eligibility for TGT candidates being fixed at 50 percent marks in graduation. This will be applicable prospectively to those graduates who pass the graduation after 30th June, 2008, an official spokesman said.

For teaching Punjabi and Urdu, the cabinet sanctioned 100 posts each who are to be posted in identified schools, the spokesman said.
