Non Science Careers for students after Class XII

Engineering/ Medicine as careers have been associated with lots of reputation and regards to the extent that students not doing well in Science/ maths in class X are asked to take Arts – and the regard these guys enjoy in school and society is also not very high (Our society still is very parochial). The amount of development happening in society is largely attributed to the development of New Age Careers, listed below.

CA – CPT: With the role of Commerce and Business increasing in day to day life, it is understood that there is a requirement of more and more CAs in the society. The Govt. also has eased out certain conditions for qualifying as a CA. A student fresh after school can now get into CA fold with CPT as the first level of exam. The commerce students who, so far, were waiting fro Graduation etc, now can start earlier…also now as every aspirant of CA has to write CPT (compulsorily), COmmerce students find an opportunity to a Career path right after class XII.

Law: Hitherto understood law after BA is a dated degree of Law. The new 5 year Integrated Law programmes offered by the National Law Schools, offer a 5 year Law degree. The students pass outs from these Colleges (most of them) get placed in Corporates where students from the best MBA colleges aspire to be.

Hospitality: Hotel Management, so far seen as bringing tea/ coffee to the clients has moved over. With the increase of call centres, retails shops, there is an inherent need of students having the required skill set, hence most the Hotel management graduates get placed in retails outlets, hospitality sector.

Aviation: With the rise in no. of privately owned airlines and Tourism sector, the students get placed in arenas like aviaition as Air Hostess/ Flight Stewards or the ground staff. Also, these students are the ones found at the Front Desks of the 5 star hotels (they compete closely with hotel Management graduates here)
