Privatization Has Led To Jobless Growth – CPI(M)

Shimla: Banking on youth power, CPI(M) today said that liberalization and privatization policies initiated had led to a jobless growth in Himachal as there were over 10 lakh registered educated unemployed in the state.

Demanding an extension of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme to urban areas, Tikender Panwar, CPI(M) secretariat member said that it would help to give gainful employment to many people in urban areas.

Prakash Karat, national secretary CPI (M) would address a public rally at Shimla on Monday, Tikender Panwar informed

He said that 60 percent of population in the state was under 40 years age and the government should introduce an unemployment allowance for the youth.

The party has demanded that Himachal Pradesh University be elevated as a central university and the pollution free environment is ideally suited for setting up an Information Technology hub.

Tikender demanded that mushrooming of private educational institutions needed to be curbed.

Both CPI(M) and CPI are contesting on seven seats each with both having pitted candidates for the Arki seat.

Main reason for the growing number of unemployed youth is the one and a half century old education policy. The colleges are still churning out clerks and the degrees which they pass out with are no use in the private sector. Till the time no steps are taken to strengthen technical and proffessional education this situation is going to continue.

The vision of leaders in Himachal is very limited. The main reason for it is aged leadership. We can hear every leader making claims/announcements to open degree colleges. Their vision beyond it is blocked. They cannot ever understand the nature of job market.
