Himachal Tourism to ogranise treks from October 17 to 21 in Shimla and Kullu districts

Shimla: To promote the spirit of adventure as well as inculcate discipline Himachal tourism is taking a new initiative by organizing trekking programs in Kullu and Shimla district.

The programs would be organised from October 17th to 21st in association with Western Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (WHMI) and Great Himalayan National Park (GHNP), Kullu, in three selected treks of Shimla and Kullu, said Avay Shukla, additional chief secretary who is looking after tourism.

The tourism department is making a concerted effort to position Himachal Pradesh as an adventure sport destination, he said adding that organizing of trekking programmes was one of the steps in that direction.

Two treks namely Sarahan-Bashal Pass (11,500 feet) and Rohru-Larot-Chanshal (4220 meters) in Shimla district would be covered in four days while the third trek namely Neuli-Shakti-Dhel-Thatch-Lapah (12000 feet) in Sainj valley of Kullu would be covered in five days, said Shukla.

For the three treks the group strength of the trekkers would be 20, 16 and 25 respectively and participants from Karnatka, Maharashra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh were taking part in the trekking programmes. More treks under the umbrella of this programme would be brought in future which would now be a regular annual feature, he said.

    7 days trip to Shimla in January
    Hey guys, I am from Delhi and am going on a 7 day trip to Shimla in January and nearby places to enjoy the scenic beauty and everything related to Shimla…

    Now comes the real fun part, I want partners for this trip, gals and guys all invited…

    It would be best if 5-10 ppl who have never met each other went on this trip together so that we get to explore Shimla for new sights and each other for new friends…
