Dr Omesh Bharti’s Third Book of Poetry Released

A collection of English poems, ‘My Interaction with Life’ by Dr. Omesh Bharti was released by the secretary, Himachal Pradesh Art, Culture and Languages Academy, Vidya Chand Thakur today at a brief function in the Academy office today.

Appreciating the efforts of Dr. Bharti for having brought out third book of poems, two in Hindi poetry earlier, in a short period Mr. Thakur said English was equally important as any other language is.

He said one must not shirk from learning any language. He said there was a need to create literature in different languages and even dialects as every language has certain typical words, which could not be translated and expressed in their real essence in other languages.

Noted littérateur, T.R.Sharma and chairman of department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Dr. T.D. S. Alok were also present on the occasion.

An upcoming writer, Dr. Bharti, presently posted as Medical Officer in Blood Bank in Rippon hospital, has already come out with two books of Hindi poetry, ‘Boodha Aur Kabad’ and ‘Asmanjas’, in recent years.

The poems in ‘My Interaction With Life’ are a true picture of contemporary incongruities and conflicts being faced by the commoner.

The poetic muse of the poet is replete with the experiences he has obtained as a promoter of literacy mission, a professional doctor, a social activist and from his village upbringing.

The poems are not just an academic exercise, but emotional reactions to different vicissitudes of life.

The hallmark of the book is positive. It anchors the theme of love and romance in various shades, but at the same time, the author seeks a release of his hopes and aspirations, and visualizes a society free from suffering.

Dr. Bharti?s poems transcend the national barriers and encompass humanity of the entire world as a whole. His poems reflect him as a humanist. For example note his concern for the polio stricken children and resolve to win a victory over this disease-

Mother?s tears exhort me to resolve
Victory would be ours

(`The day is not far away)

He is realistic when he writes about the political parties:

Parties are their own trumpets,
That they are the best,
After winning, issues dear to public
Are laid to rest

(`Political Parties)

His aspiration is reflected in?

Keep alive
an alternative
An unbeaten path to sanity

(keep alive..)

‘This small collection of 64 poems is a reflection of my internal conflicts, fantasies and experiences that have transformed into words??, expresses Dr. Bharti, as he explains ‘The energy of the youth is a force that can lead to creation- positive or negative. And few of these poems are a creation to impress someone closer to my heart and also to jot down what exactly I find out in an interaction.
