High Court serves notice on BJP-Congress over Child’s death

The Himachal Pradesh High Court today issued notices to the state goverenment, deputy commissioner Shimla, Congress party and Bhartia Janata Party seeking reply on the issue of death of a child during the rallies organized on August 29.

Hearing to the Public Interest Litigation filed by Vireder Thakur, the division bench of Chief Justice V.K. Gupta and Justice Rajeev Sharma directed the above-mentioned respondents to file their reply by September 7, for which the matter has been further scheduled to be listed.

The petitioner had filed his litigation on the basis of newspaper reports which had highlighted the death of a four year child, Dinesh, who had died on his way to the IGMC hospital Shimla as the vehicle in which he was been carried got stuck during the rallies organized by the Congress and the BJP.

The petitioner in his litigation has submitted that the there should be some guidelines which will ensure that during such rallies traffic on the city roads does not come to a halt. It has also been submitted that the political parties who organize such rallies are made responsible for smooth flow of traffic.

    It is time for the government and political parties to wake up to these requirments of some guidelines which will ensure that during such rallies such incident dont happen again.
