Public Sector SJVN Limited has been conferred with 17th Annual Greentech Environment Excellence PLATINUM Award 2017 in Hydro Power Sector for outstanding achievement in Environment Management. The award was received by J S Nayyar, Addl. General Manager, Corporate Environment SJVN at a conference organised by Greentech Foundation at Bengaluru.
SJVN has set new benchmarks in restoration of ‘muck dumping sites’ by using Coir Geotextiles Blankets that stimulate the features of natural vegetation and control erosion which is crucial during the initial stages of plant establishment. These blankets not only retain water for longer periods but gradually biodegrades naturally to fully blend with the soil conditions. These products are made from biodegradable coconut fibres, reinforced with High Density Poly-Euthrene (HDPE) for enhancing strength to withstand steep slope and different climatic conditions.
The awards were conferred during the 17th Annual Sustainability Conference held in Bengaluru.
