Drunk woman arrested for stealing new born from Kullu hospital

Kullu: On the 22 – 23rd September intervening night, regional hospital Kullu had an unusual visitor, a drunk woman, who entered the hospital and was stopped after she attempted to carry a new born child out with her from the ward.

Uma Thakur, incharge of Kullu woman police station confirmed the arrest of Santosh Kumari (38), who is the wife of one Chaman Kumar, a resident of Leta village in Mandi district.

When contacted Ms Thakur told Hill Post, “the woman was arrested for trying to take a new born baby out from the hospital. Santosh was in a drunk condition, when she attempted to carry the baby.”

“The matter is being investigated,” she added.

Security at the Kullu regional hospital has been a matter of concern and the administration had assured the hospital management of beefing it up after two incidents of relatives of patients manhandling doctors were reported in the last one year.
